My calculator was lost but now is found

This is an post from the olden days – read more about them here.

I’m not talking about myself here.

I am talking about my jumper, calculator, and why the effects of sleep deprivation in lectures can turn bad.

For a start, that day my train had been delayed by 5 minutes outside Southern Cross, the next train I caught waited on the Viaduct before Flinders Street for another five minutes, and I just missed the express train out to uni, so I had to catch the stopping all stations Blackburn train.

I was in my Maths lecture at 10:30am in the morning, and wanting to go back to sleep. I had my calculator on the table, and had by jumper on my seat because it was warm.

The lecture finally finished, so I packed up by books and went. I had a few hours free, so I went a few suburbs across to have a look-see in a hobby shop.

I get back to uni, open up by bag, and think – I though I brought my jumper along with me, oh shit! I left it behind! Luckily, it was still in the lecture theatre, so I was able to get it back.

I head home, and open up my pencil case, noticing that is was thinner than it usually was. Shit ^2! I had lost that as well!

I headed off to uni today, and (in a good sign) all the train ran on time, and I caught the express.

I head up to the lecture theatre, and couldn’t find it. Luckily, some of the guys I usually sit next to said "here’s your calculator – I was going to give it to you yesterday afternoon but forget."

So – all’s well that ends well!

(I am rather attached to my calculator – it has served me well for many years now…)
